The compact Black & Decker Smart Scan AD925 is compatible with virtually all automobiles sold in North America after 1995. It easily attaches to your vehicle's ODB-II port, which is typically located under the dash near the steering column. Once connected, the Smart Scan A925's Urgency Indicator will instantly alert you to the severity of the problem and tell you if it's safe to continue driving. An arrow pointing the green bar indicates no problem, while an arrow pointing to the yellow bar indicates that the vehicle should be examined in the next 5 days. When the arrow points to the amber bar, a mechanic should check the vehicle before further damage occurs. If the arrow points to the red bar, an immediate repair is needed.
The Smart Scan AD925 also provides you with the diagnostic codes that are causing the Check Engine Light to come on. These are the same codes that a mechanic uses to diagnose and repair your car. The Smart Scan AD925 stores these codes in its memory, and can be attached to your computer through a USB connection for in-depth research on Black & Decker's Check Engine Light Help Center. The B&D Smart Scan does the job easily and well. It is a quality built product that should save the owner money for years to come. I used it and replaced the AIC Valve in my Honda Accord. I saved $225 compared to the dealer cost of part and labor. I purchased the part at Auto Zone for half the dealer cost. The original part was made in Mexico and the replacement from Auto Zone was Japanese. I got the best deal all around and paid for the Smart Scan with $135 to spare for the next repair! I prefer the convenience of having the tool rather than having to get to a part store for their test......my choice.
